How to tell them — timing, how much detail for their age, and honest but reassuring framing. 2. What feelings/behaviors to expect (regression, clinginess, acting out are normal) and how to respond. 3. Concrete ways to help them feel secure and involved through it. 4. Age-appropriate language for the hard questions they might ask. 5. When the reaction might warrant extra support, and to consider a professional.
