Resolve a Conflict / Tough Conversation
Prep the conversation you've been avoiding so it actually goes somewhere.
Decline a request, an invite, or a lowball — clearly, kindly, no guilt spiral.
I need to say no to something and I'm dreading it. Help me do it cleanly. What I'm declining: [THE REQUEST / OFFER / INVITE] Who's asking: [relationship — boss, client, friend, family] Why I'm saying no: [REASON, even if I won't share all of it] Write me a response that: is warm but unambiguous (no maybe-that-reads-as-yes), gives just enough reason without over-explaining or apologizing five times, offers an alternative only if I actually want to, and protects the relationship. Give me a firmer version and a softer version. Keep it short — long nos invite negotiation. End with the one phrase that makes a no final without being cold.
