THE PIECE (original design):
A delicate pendant necklace in polished white gold, fine cable-link chain, holding a single pear-cut sapphire pendant — deep cobalt blue, faceted with a distinct table cut at the top tapering to a sharp point at the bottom, set in a minimal four-claw mount that leaves most of the stone exposed to light. Two tiny round brilliant diamonds sit just above the sapphire at the bail, catching separate, smaller points of light from the main stone.
STAGE block:
The necklace drapes over the rounded shoulder-curve of a matte charcoal-grey ceramic bust form — headless, faceless, just the smooth curve of a shoulder and the hollow of where a throat would be. The bust's surface is matte and unreflective, so it reads as negative space rather than competing with the jewelry. The chain falls naturally into the curve, the pendant resting in the lowest point of the hollow.
SETTING — three depth layers:
Layer 1 (sharp foreground): the pendant and the immediate few links of chain around it, fully resolved facet detail on the sapphire.
Layer 2 (midground, soft focus): the curve of the ceramic shoulder and the chain's path along it, softening toward the edges.
Layer 3 (deep background): true black, the ceramic form's far edge dissolving into the void with no visible base, stand, or surface.
LIGHTING block:
A single hard light source from directly above and slightly behind, narrow enough to create one bright vertical strike down the front face of the sapphire — the table facet flaring bright white-blue, the lower point of the stone falling to near-black cobalt. The chain links catch only isolated pinpoint highlights where individual links face the light directly; most of the chain stays a dark, barely-visible silver line. Roughly 80% of frame in true shadow.
CAMERA block:
85mm, camera at a slightly elevated three-quarter angle looking down into the hollow where the pendant rests, so the viewer's eye follows the chain down into the stone the way a real gaze would.
WORLD RULE:
No face, no visible mannequin neck/head, no jewelry display stand of the velvet-bust-with-base variety. The ceramic form must feel like sculpture, not retail display. No visible base, pedestal, or branding.
