THE PIECE (original design):
A pair of drop earrings in oxidized dark silver with a brushed, almost charcoal patina rather than bright polish. Each earring suspends a single elongated marquise-cut amethyst stone — sharp pointed facets at both ends, deeply faceted along its length so it catches light in long thin slivers rather than broad flashes. The stone hangs from a thin silver wire wrapped twice around itself at the top, deliberately irregular rather than a uniform jump ring, giving it a hand-forged look.
STAGE block:
The earrings hang suspended from a single black-lacquered branch fragment, angled diagonally across the frame, the branch's bark texture rough and matte so it absorbs light almost completely except where the light source grazes its uppermost ridge. The two earrings hang at slightly different heights and rotation angles from each other, as if caught mid-sway rather than perfectly still and matched.
SETTING — three depth layers:
Layer 1 (sharp foreground): both earrings in full clarity, every facet edge of the amethyst stones and the wire-wrap detail fully resolved.
Layer 2 (midground, soft focus): the branch extending diagonally behind and beyond the earrings, its texture softening into blur toward the frame edges.
Layer 3 (deep background): true black void, no floor, no wall, no horizon — the branch appears to emerge from and dissolve into pure darkness at both ends.
LIGHTING block:
A single hard, narrow light source positioned upper-left, angled so it rakes along the branch's top ridge and enters each amethyst stone from one specific facet, fracturing into a thin bright sliver that travels down the stone's length while the opposite edge of the same stone holds deep violet-black shadow. The silver wire catches only the faintest cool highlight at its uppermost wrap. Roughly 78% of frame is true black; the lit zone is narrow, following the diagonal of the branch itself.
CAMERA block:
100mm macro-equivalent, camera angled to follow the branch's diagonal, positioned slightly below the earrings looking up so the marquise points are seen in full silhouette-clarity against the black void behind them.
WORLD RULE:
No hand, no ear, no mannequin, no jewelry stand. Branch must read as a real, rough, organic object — not a smooth painted prop. No visible string, wire support, or rig holding the branch in frame.
